How to make doll gloves with your own hands. We sew a glove doll, master class. General description of the process

Master class on needlework: Glove doll Parsley using papier-mâché technique

Chuprakova Olga Ivanovna, additional education teacher
Description. Puppet theater is one of the most favorite shows for children. It attracts children with its brightness, colorfulness, and dynamics. In the puppet theater, children see familiar and close toys - only they came to life, moved, spoke and became even more attractive and interesting. The extraordinary nature of the spectacle captivates children, transporting them to a very special, fascinating world, where everything unusual is possible.

A parsley-type glove puppet, or, as it is often called, a hand puppet, is the most common and easiest to make and manage type of puppet for a puppet theater, available to children, which was the reason for the development of this master class.
This development is a guide to organizing and conducting a master class with students of creative associations of additional education institutions, general education organizations, additional education teachers, teachers implementing puppet theater programs.
Before conducting this master class, it is necessary to first have a conversation about the types of puppets for the puppet theater, the history of the glove puppet, and show a scene using glove puppets made using this technique by senior students.
This technique for making a glove puppet is less labor-intensive (than suggested in many sources: making a mold from plasticine, pasting it with paper, cutting and gluing), the dolls are strong and light, so they can be used repeatedly, changing only the costume. Students in grades 3-4 who are studying puppet theater in a creative association for the first year can easily cope with this technique.
It is advisable to conduct this master class in two stages, because It takes time to dry the product parts, the optimal course is 2 days.
Target: making a glove puppet “Petrushka” for a puppet theater
Tasks: Educational:
- acquaintance with the history of the emergence of the Parsley doll;
- formation of artistic skills in making dolls.
Educational:
- fostering a caring attitude towards Russian traditions and the historically established respect of the Russian people for the theater.
Educational:
- development of creative abilities, imagination, fantasy;
- development of interest in creativity and theater.

Progress of the lesson

V. Berestov “The Hand is an Artist.”
The hand turns
Either into a kitten or into a puppy.
So that the hand becomes an artist
You need very, very little:
Special gloves,
Intelligence, talent - and everything is in order.
During our master class, you will get acquainted with the techniques of creating a theatrical puppet from scrap materials, make a glove puppet with your own hands, guess which one:
My beautiful cap
Pushed dashingly to the side.
I'm a funny toy
And my name is... (Petrushka)
Well, of course, Petrushka.
The story of Parsley.
It was with Petrushka that the puppet theater in Rus' began its existence. The first puppet theater was born a long time ago, back in Ancient Rome. The main character of his performances was the cheerful, cheerful Pulcinella. Folk puppet heroes who knew how to express the feelings of ordinary people appeared in other countries. In France, Polichinelle became the favorite of the audience, and in England - Punch, in Turkey - Karagöz, and in Germany - Hanswurst.

In terms of character, courage, audacity, and mockery, they are all relatives of our Parsley. What men and working people could not, did not dare to say out loud, dolls shouted loudly in squares and fairs. What will you do for Petrushka? Performances by traveling puppeteers were prohibited. The wooden stages and screens were removed. But, the next day, Petrushkin’s screen appeared in the neighboring village and the doll again boldly and boldly, loudly, expressed the secret thoughts of the assembled spectators.
Petrushka's appearance is by no means Russian: he has exaggeratedly large hands and head, and exaggerated facial features. Parsley got her big eyes and huge hooked nose from the Italian Pulcinella. Many people mistakenly believe that Parsley’s wide-open mouth is a smile, but this is not so; being a negative character, Parsley constantly stretches his lips in a grin.
You and I will make a kind, cheerful Parsley. The doll consists of two parts: the head and the body (gloves, which is why the dolls are called glove dolls).
We will make the head from papier-mâché. Papier-mâché, translated from French, means “chewed paper” - it is an easily moldable mass obtained from fibrous materials (paper, cardboard), usually with the addition of adhesives.
Tools and materials required for work:

For the head: egg containers, PVA glue, newspapers, masking tape. For painting: water-based paint for primer, acrylic paints, brushes, cardboard, stapler, glue gun.
For the body (gloves): fabric (pink fleece for the palms, for the suit - two different colors), threads, scissors, needles, yarn for hair, patterns (see Appendix No. 1), diagram of the doll (see Appendix No. 2) .
Preparation of papier-mâché mass.

Grind the egg container, put it in a container, fill it with hot water, leave for 10 minutes to soften, then knead the mass with your hands until it takes on a mushy state.
Then strain through cheesecloth, squeezing out excess water. Add PVA glue at the rate of: 3 parts mass, 1 part glue, mix well.

Having examined the diagram of the doll, we see that there should be a recess in the head for a finger, so it is necessary to make one cartridge for the head and two for the hands (see Appendix No. 3). To do this, wrap a strip of cardboard with a width equal to the length of the index finger around the finger and secure it with a stapler or glue.

Head sculpting.
We crumple the newspaper and wrap the cartridge loosely, forming a ball (two newspapers are enough), secure the newspaper with masking tape.

We paste the paste over the workpiece, smoothing it with our fingers.
Apply additional pieces of the mixture to the forehead, nose, cheeks, chin and lips. For the eyes, make indentations with your fingers.

Smooth out the entire workpiece. Leave to dry for 2 days by inserting a stick into the cartridge.

Sewing a suit
Safety briefing
Let's start making the body - the gloves.
To do this, trace your hand on paper, bending the middle and ring fingers.

We measure the circumference of the head, divide it in half (26:2), draw a triangle with a side of 13 cm, cut out the patterns.
We lay out the patterns on fabric folded in half (one layer of one color, the second of a different color).

We trace the patterns and cut them out. We cut the parts of the body in half and lay them out, combining halves of different colors. We sew the parts together using a buttonhole stitch.

We draw a palm - a mitten, along the wrist of the suit on paper. Cut out the pattern. Trace the pattern onto pink fabric, cut it out and sew it with a buttonhole stitch.

We put a piece of padding polyester in our palms and insert the cartridges, securing them with a glue gun. Glue the palms to the suit.

Head painting.
We prime the doll's head with water-based paint. Let it dry, in the meantime we dilute flesh-colored paint (white + red + yellow) and cover the workpiece.

We mark the place for the eyes, draw eyes, eyebrows, lips with a brush, and use foam rubber to blush the cheeks.

And cheerful Petrushka is already smiling at us!
Hair making
For hair, we wrap the threads around a cardboard frame and stitch them in the middle.

Remove from the frame, cutting along the edge. Glue the hair around the circumference of the head.

Connecting parts
Glue the cap and body with a glue gun.

You can additionally decorate the suit with buttons and a hat with a tassel.
Our Petrushka is ready to perform!

Conclusion
Using this technique, you can make various characters for puppet shows.

Every family has its own traditions - evening tea parties, Sunday trips to the cinema, picnics in nature... They are what make the family friendly and united. One of these family traditions can be organizing a home puppet show. Selecting a script, learning roles, creating dolls - children will really like all this and will remember it for a long time.

An example of a simple puppet for home theater would be a glove puppet. To begin with, I suggest sewing a teddy bear. After all, the bear is a character in many folk tales, and it can be used in more than one performance.

Materials for making a teddy bear:

- light brown fleece;
- yellow fleece;
— black fleece;
- sewing threads;
- padding polyester;
- scissors;
- two small black beads.

Operating procedure

1. Make a pattern - on thick paper we draw a head, torso, nose, paw, ear. Cut out all the details from paper.

2. Fold the light brown fleece in half, place the paper pattern of the body on it, trace it and cut it out with seam allowances. The result will be two parts of the bear's body.

3. Let's make a part for the teddy bear's chest. Let's take yellow fleece and draw an oval on it using the same pattern as for the nose. Let's cut out one piece without seam allowances.

4. Transfer the pattern of the legs onto the yellow fleece and cut out two parts without seam allowances. These will be the palms on the bear cub's paws.

5. Take one part of the body and carefully sew the chest and palms with a buttonhole stitch.

6. Place the parts of the teddy bear's body right sides together and sew along the edge. There is no need to sew at the bottom.

7. Turn the body inside out and straighten it out.

8. Fold the widow's light brown fleece and transfer the head pattern onto it. Cut with seam allowances. We will get two parts of the bear's head.

9. Place the head pieces right sides together and sew, leaving an unsewn hole on one side approximately 6 cm long.

10. Turn the head part inside out and straighten it.

11. Stuff the head piece with padding polyester and sew it to the body with a hidden seam. Let's tuck in the bottom edge of the body and hem it.

12. Take yellow and light brown fleece. Let's transfer the detail of the teddy bear's ear onto the fabric. Cut out two ear pieces from yellow fleece and two pieces from light brown.

13. Combine the yellow fleece pieces with the light brown fleece pieces and sew along the edge.

14. Turn the ears out and straighten them.

15. On each ear, fold the unsewn sides inward and sew them with a hidden seam. Let's sew the ears to the bear's head.

16. Take a paper pattern for the nose, place it on the yellow fleece, trace it and cut it out with seam allowances. Let's gather the detail of the nose along the edge with a thread. Lightly tighten the thread to create a shallow bag.

17. Put a lump of padding polyester into the resulting bag, tighten the thread tighter and sew the nose to the head with a hidden seam.

18. Cut out a circle with a diameter of about 2 cm from black fleece and sew it to the nose using a buttonhole stitch. Sew on eyes from black beads. Using black thread we will embroider the teddy bear's eyebrows.

The teddy bear for the home puppet theater is ready. Let's try the toy on our hand and try to move its paws, raise and lower the bear's head... Controlling this toy is not at all difficult and even children can do it. Using the same principle, you can sew other glove dolls.

All that remains is to learn the roles, pull up a blanket screen, draw a bright poster, line up the chairs in a row and invite the whole family to the premiere of your home puppet show.

Probably all children love the theater. And not only to attend performances with the participation of real artists who skillfully portray their favorite fairy-tale characters, but also to organize theatrical performances on their own. What could be more interesting than stringing a rope across the room, hanging a sheet on it, and hiding behind it, putting on a puppet show? The performers can be ordinary toys or puppets specially made for such an occasion. Or you can try to make a hand puppet quickly and easily with your own hands - it is very simple to use, but your home performance will look just like the real thing. All that remains is to call the whole family and announce the start of the performance!

There are many different ways to make a hand puppet. If you have time and desire, you can cut out a full-fledged pattern from many parts, or you can simply take an unnecessary glove or mitten of a suitable color as a basis. It's no coincidence that these dolls are also called glove dolls!

We make a funny hand puppet with our own hands for entertainment

To make a hand puppet “Bunny” you will need:

Two white knitted gloves (you can also take ordinary work gloves, but they should not have rubber bumps on the palm)

  • small buttons (for eyes)
  • scissors
  • threads
  • needle
  • braid and pieces of fabric for decoration
  • a sewing knife for steaming fabric (if you don’t have one, you can use nail scissors)
How to make a hand puppet “Bunny”:

1) We begin our master class by making a hare’s head. Take one white glove and unpick the colored thread that runs along the edge of the cuff.

2) We insert the following fingers of the glove into the resulting hole: little finger, ring finger, thumb. Sew them up, making sure they don’t come back out. If you look closely, we have a toy head with ears and a neck. Where the ears connect to the head, it is necessary to make several stitches with white threads so that during the performance the actor’s fingers do not accidentally fall into these holes.

3) Now it’s the turn of the second glove. It is necessary to bend the ring finger inward, sewing up the resulting hole. After this, sew the middle and index fingers together.

5) To hide the seams at the junction of the head, you can tie a bow from braid or a scarf from a rectangular piece of fabric around the bunny’s neck.

6) All that remains is to decorate the face of our doll. Sew small buttons of a matching color to create eyes. We embroider the nose and mustache with colored threads. Additionally, you can make a cheerful crest from a piece of synthetic or natural fur.

7) The hand puppet “Bunny” is ready! Using the same scheme, you can easily make other characters, changing only the color of the gloves and additional elements that can be easily cut out of fabric or paper.

What figures can be made for a home puppet theater?

Of course, when choosing figurines, you need to start from the performance itself, which you plan to perform in front of guests and household members. Depending on this, it will be necessary to produce all the main actors. However, in any case, we can identify some average set of figures that are involved in most children's fairy tales and performances. And the main one is parsley, the fairground buffoon. This cheerful doll should have a bright ruddy face and a cap, and should be dressed in a red shirt.

In many folk tales, the main characters are typical animals of the middle zone. For example, the main deceiver and villain is often the sly fox. For this character we will need orange material, as well as pieces of natural or faux white fur. The fox's eyes should be oblong and bright green, so you can even use rhinestones of the appropriate color to make them.

Another popular fairy tale character is the bear. And no matter how much you would like to save money and use white gloves when portraying a polar bear, this is still not the best idea. Or in this case, you will have to act out not Russian folk tales, but the story about Umka. Therefore, for the doll you will have to sacrifice some kind of brown mitten, preferably wool.

Despite the fact that the frog does not participate in all folk tales, there are also many stories with its participation: for example, “Teremok”, “The Frog Princess”, “The Frog Traveler”. It is logical to assume that such a figurine should be green, and it is better to make the eyes for the frog from large convex buttons. If you plan to act out the fairy tale “The Frog Princess,” you will also need a small foil crown.

Video on the topic of the article

To learn more about the art of making glove dolls, we suggest watching the following videos. Experienced dollmakers will tell you about all the intricacies of making these cute crafts.

Doing it yourself is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. In the master class presented here we will tell you in detail how to make a glove puppet for such a theater. We will make a cunning fox, which is the main character of numerous Russian fairy tales.

Let's prepare the necessary materials: a piece of faux fur, white fleece, calico for the lining, ready-made eyes, any filler, a piece of black fleece, glue, scissors, thread, etc.

It should be immediately noted that the doll is designed for a child's hand, so its size will be appropriate. So, you should print out the patterns and cut them out.

Let's start with the fox's body, for which we cut out the pattern of the main part from the fur, taking into account that the pile is directed downwards. Add half a centimeter seam allowance. We duplicate the details from the lining fabric. Two parts come out of the fur and two from the lining.

We cut out the breast from white fleece and pin it onto one of the main parts.

Using the zigzag function on the machine, sew the breast along the contour.

This is what should happen in the end.

Now we connect both parts of the fox’s body with the front side facing inward and stitch along the edge, without touching the bottom of the toy.

We sew the lining part in the same way. We make serifs in the places shown in the photo.

We turn the fur part of the fox right side out, into which we insert the lining part; there is no need to turn it inside out.

Along the bottom edge of the toy we connect the main and lining parts with pins.

Now using the zigzag function on the machine, bend the fur part one centimeter inward and hem the edge of the toy.

In the places indicated in the photo, you should carefully pull out the jammed fur.

Let's start sewing the head of the toy. We cut out the corresponding part from the fur in two mirrored versions. Don't forget about seam allowances of half a centimeter on each side.

We connect the two parts of the head with the fur side facing inward.

It is necessary to stitch only in those places indicated in the photo.

There is an undercut at the top of the head that needs to be folded in a different plane and stitched in the same way.

We get this head blank for a toy.

Now the head can be filled with any filler, making sure that it gets into all the corners and recesses. Only at the place where the neck is attached you need to leave a little space.

Having put the main part of the toy on your hand, we put the head on the neck to the end and sew it to the body using a hidden seam. For reliability, it is better to flash it twice.

Let's start sewing the fox's tail. Since its tip should be white, we cut it out of white fleece.

We connect the white fleece and the fur part for the tail, sew it together as shown in the photo.

Now we connect the two parts of the tail with the front side facing inward, apply the pattern and stitch it. Make sure that the edge of the tail pattern falls on the white part of the workpiece.

We cut off a small piece at the end of the tail and turn it inside out, now you can fill it with filler.

You can now sew the tail to the fox, using the same hidden seam.

For the nose, you need to cut out a black circle with a diameter of four centimeters. Sew along the edge of the circle and gather it in.

We stuff the filler into the resulting pocket, forming a ball, and tighten it well with threads. Now you can sew it to the muzzle.

Recently, children and adults have enjoyed attending master classes on making puppets for the theater. The world of theatrical toys is many-sided and diverse: there are puppets, plasticine dolls (as in old Soviet cartoons), and glove heroes.

Home puppet theater was the favorite entertainment of Russian children before the revolution, when there were no computers and televisions. DIY finger puppets are very convenient because they are small in size. But the main thing is that, if desired, skillful hands can turn an ordinary glove into any fairy-tale hero. Children of senior preschool and primary school age willingly make glove puppets according to a pattern under the supervision of adults, and then come up with entire performances, acting them out in front of their peers and kids.

What is a bibabo doll for?

A bibabo doll is a toy that is the protagonist of a theatrical performance. In specialized literature, both combined and separate (bi ba bo) spellings of this name are found. Both options are valid. Sometimes the spelling “bi ba byy” is also found, but it is erroneous. Fans of glove dolls can find patterns in specialized needlework literature and on the Internet. Of course, you can buy ready-made mittens, but they are quite expensive and often look faceless, of the same type, and lack “zest.” Here are just a few options for using a fun glove toy:

Also, the bibabo toy will adequately decorate any exhibition of joint creativity between children and parents in a school, kindergarten, or educational center. Making such toys in technology lessons develops fine motor skills and imagination, and teaches children creative thinking. The bibabo toy is perfect for staging amateur children's performances based on Russian folk tales (“Kolobok”, “Turnip”, “Three Bears”) in theater studios for children.

They help children to relax, gain self-confidence, and overcome inferiority complexes and fears. Psychologists say that collective theater activities (for example, home puppet theater) are one of the most effective methods of art therapy for children and adults.

Materials for work

To knit mitten dolls, you will first need dense material for the base, as well as multi-colored shreds, pieces of fur, felt, and leather. The choice of available materials depends on the appearance of a particular toy. . It’s easier to use a ready-made glove as a basis., but only if it is in good condition. Also, those who want to sew dolls for the theater with their own hands will need patterns. In addition, for work you need to prepare:

When working on cutting fabric, you will also need pattern paper, sharp scissors and a piece of chalk to transfer the pattern onto the fabric.

General description of the process

The principle of making any glove toys is the same, and the execution of the details depends on what kind of hero it will be. For example, a hedgehog definitely needs sharp needles. A hare can be recognized by its long ears, and a cunning fox by its sharp nose and fluffy red tail. First you need to draw a sketch or download a ready-made version from the Internet. Here is a general job description:

When several dolls are already ready, you can sew a simple screen from thick, bright fabric and start a fun performance with the participation of bibabo dolls.

The simplest version of such a toy is an ordinary old glove with funny faces embroidered on the fingers. This option is convenient because five characters fit on one hand at once, and the toy does not take up much space. Instead of a glove, you can use an old mitten or an ordinary children's sock.

Decor options

The decor of the bi ba bo doll depends on what character it portrays. Each hero has his own style, his own unique appearance. Main - make the character recognizable. Animals can be sewn with characteristic ears and tails, mustaches attached, and claws and teeth attached. The decor of glove dolls with your own hands depends on the pattern, the material used, as well as on the capabilities of the needlewoman. Most often, bibabo dolls are used for performances based on Russian folk tales about animals. Here are the most interesting decor options for such toys:

Scenarios for games with dolls

Real masters of puppet theater can come up with a variety of amateur productions with the participation of glove heroes. Mitten toys in the hands of an experienced puppeteer can sing, dance, tell funny stories and even perform simple tricks. Funny characters can come to children's New Year's party and participate in the distribution of gifts along with Father Frost and Snow Maiden. In kindergarten, you can use glove puppets during sports and music themed events.

Recently, the tradition has been actively reviving in Russia Christmas nativity scene using handmade dolls. In specialized literature, you can read about the rules for making dolls depicting traditional Christmas characters, and make glove heroes according to the recommended model.

For younger children, you can make a funny Parsley in a jester's cap, who can tell funny stories and move funny to the music. Older children will be happy to use bibabo dolls for role-playing games; for them you can make dolls depicting representatives of various professions: sailor, doctor, driver, cook, builder. The main thing is that the image is clear and recognizable.

Glove puppet - one of the favorite toys for kids too, and for older guys. The bibabo doll gives the child his first impression of the theater, teaches the child to play different roles and helps him easily transform into his favorite character. Using such dolls at home, in kindergarten and in elementary school helps children develop creative thinking and awakens interest in theatrical performances. In order to make such a funny hero with your own hands, you can use any available materials - it all depends on your capabilities and creative ideas.
